Get to Know Bus Bar from Three Different Aspects 2013-04-10
It is widely known that copper bus and other types of bus bars are normally used to conduct electricity in different types of electrical apparatuses such as electrical power distribution and electrical substation, etc. It is quite likely that you have ever heard of busbar before. But, have you ever considered spending some time to understand more about busbar, especially the background of busbar and several most commonly used busbar materials? Here we shall mainly lead you to get to know more about bus bar from the following three different aspects.
Firstly, let's get to know more about bus bar from the point of view of background. About half a century ago, electrical power had to be transmitted several thousands miles. After that, some measures had to be taken in order to use this current for such electrical apparatuses as switch boards and power substations. Obviously, long-distance power transmission would cause substantial current losses and pose great safety hazards. Under such circumstance, bus bar manufacturer began to manufacture bus bar in order to solve the problem of substantial current losses. Gradually, more and more electrical power enterprises started to replace busbar for conventional cables in the electricity industry.
Secondly, having a good command of most commonly used busbar materials and their respective advantages as well as disadvantages also helps us have a thorough understanding of bus bar. As far as the factor of material is concerned, we generally think that bus bar is made of copper, aluminum and copper clad aluminum. Of course, brass is also used to make bus bar some times. Generally aluminum is extremely light in terms of weight. However, aluminum's electrical conductivity is not that ideal. Copper and brass, however, are equipped with excellent electrical conductivity. For this reason, copper bus and brass bus can be used to replace for aluminum bus sometimes. But, it should be noted that the cost of copper and brass is very expensive. As a perfect combination of copper and aluminum, copper clad aluminum is not only very light but also equipped with superior electrical conductivity. No wonder that CCA busbar has been increasingly popular these days.
Finally, it's also necessary for us to take a look at the classification and performance of busbar. Generally speaking, busbar can be classified into four major categories according to that of material: copper busbar, aluminum busbar, brass copper busbar and CCA busbar. In addition, bus bar also can be divided into several different types based on structure. For instance, there are hard busbar, soft busbar and enclosed busbar. And for the performance, we generally believe that busbar enjoys the attractive advantage of superior performance over other types of cables. To be specific, electrical bus bar not only can be used for the transmission of high density current but also helps reduce the current losses caused by long-distance power transmission. What's more, electrical busbar also helps improve the overall safety of the electrical power transmission system.
